Traditional Kitchen gets upgrade with Modern Touches

January 17, 2017

This Sandy Springs renovation was one of our favorite transformations of 2016, but then again we are bias towards all of our projects. :) From dark and bulky to open and bright this remodel is one for the books.

BEFORE

Although this might look like a lot of cabinet/storage space, it didn't function properly for the needs of our client. With the new design we were able to give ample storage but create a better flow in the kitchen.

AFTER

From design meeting to design meeting, it was clear that our client wanted this kitchen to be designed around natural light. With a stunning view to the backyard, this was a no brainer!

When looking to create a space that reflects light and bright features here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Cabinets: Going with a white or neutral color pallet really sets the tone for the feel or your kitchen, or any other space. (This was a custom kitchen and we used SW 7004 Snowbound)

2. Counter tops: White on white is always a good idea, especially if you are wanting a clean and bright look. Selecting a stone that has some veining detail creates beautiful texture. You can accomplish this using Quartz or Quartzite in addition to marble.

3. Finishes: Using lighter finishes like polished nickel, chrome, or gold (yup, gold is back!) will help to brighten your space.

4. Back-splash: This is somewhere you can showcase your personality or keep it clean with just using a white bright subway tile. In my book back-splash is like your favorite pair of heels, dress them up or down they make you feel like a million bucks!

Counter tops are Daltile Statuario. Island has 2-1/2" miter edge detail.
